Music at Westminster

Music at Westminster is an integral part in the life of this church. Through hymns, anthems, preludes and postudes, our music is given to God for His glorification and majesty.

Chancel Choir

Our chancel choir consists of an average of 20-25 people and is open to all. We lead the congregation in song and provide music during the anthem on Sunday mornings. We rehearse weekly beginning in September through June, every Wednesday evening from 7:30 - 8:30. We break for a 2 month rest period from June through July and resume singing on Sunday morning during August. For the month of August, our practices are moved to Sunday mornings at 10:00.

Our anthems change from week to week and from genre to genre. We perform a Cantata for Advent and Easter each year. Our Wednesday rehearsal times change from 7:30-9 while rehearsing for the canatas.

If you are interested in joining the choir, please come to a rehearsal or email our Director of Music, Eric Eichenberger.

Organ of Westminster

The Moller Pipe Organ of Westminster was installed in 1985, and after many years of use, was restored in 2007. The organ was purchased for approximately $114,000, and the current net worth of the instrument is $360,000-$375,000.

The restoration began in May of 2007, and the first phase was complete at the end of January 2008. This first phase was to repair broken and bent pipe work that was made from an inferior metal.

The second phase of the project began in January 2008. We evaluated the problems encountered during the 2007 restoration and new problems encountered in 2008 with the instrument. An organ committee was formed to evaluate and gain understanding of the issues we are currently facing and to determine the proper course of action to address our findings.
